JOB TITLE:                BUSINESS MANAGER

DEPARTMENT:         CENTRAL OFFICE

REPORTS TO:           SUPERINTENDENT

SUPERVISES:            BUSINESS OFFICE STAFF AND DISTRICT SUPPORT SERVICES

 

SUMMARY:

Administer the business operations of the district in such a way as to provide the best possible educational services with the financial resources available.

 

QUALIFICATIONS:

  1. Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration, Accounting or Educational Leadership.
  2. Michigan Chief Business Official Endorsement preferred.
  3. Previous experience in Office Administration.
  4. Experience in Contract Negotiations.
  5. Working knowledge of Human Resource Practice.

 

PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:

  1. Supervises and manages all the financial affairs of the schools.
  2. Assumes responsibility with direction from the Superintendent for budget development and long

range financial planning.

  1. Maintains the general ledger to record in detail all revenue and expenses.
  2. Supervises all accounting operations.
  3. Acts as payroll officer for the district.
  4. Supervises the collection, safekeeping, and distribution of all funds.
  5. Manages the district’s real estate and insurance programs.
  6. Directs the district’s supporting services, through the supervisors of maintenances, transportation and food services.
  7. Assist in the negotiation of labor contracts.
  8. Administers a budget control system for the district.
  9. Acts as adviser to the superintendent on questions relating to the business personnel and financial affairs of the district.
  10. Assists in recruiting, hiring, training, supervising, and evaluating all central office support staff personnel.
  11. Arranges for the internal auditing of school accounts.
  12. Interprets the financial concerns of the district to the community.
  13. Prepares appropriate financial reports for the Board of Education.
  14. Perform additional tasks, responsibilities, and duties as assigned by the Superintendent.
  15. Completes applications for state and federal funds.
  16. Monitors all state and federal grants, prepares grant cash requests and final expenditure reports.
  17. Oversee employee benefits.
  18. Calculate annual property tax levy and monitors for debt funds.

 

TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT:

Twelve-month year.  Salary and benefits based on experience
