Position: Middle/High School Science Teacher
Location: Potterville Middle/High School
Salary range : Salary commensurate with the credentials and experience of the
candidate, per the current contract with an employee association
Reports To: Middle/High School Principal

● A Bachelor’s degree or higher
● Valid Michigan Teaching Certificate
● Endorsements in Science (DX) will be considered; 2 nd Certification area is highly
● Strong base in the subject area content, common core standards, and Michigan
Merit Curriculum standards
● Ability to develop and sustain positive working relationships with students, staff,
parents, and district colleagues
● Demonstrated ability to sustain and improve student achievement outcomes
● Willingness to contribute to a safe school climate of high expectations and strong
collaboration, high staff and student morale, and positive community involvement
Science teacher will implement into daily instruction an appropriate educational
curriculum based on the Michigan Merit curriculum; standards, Benchmarks, and Grade
Level Content Expectations in Science
● Knowledge of Professional Learning Community tenets as espoused by Eaker
and DuFour
● Familiarity with Marzano’s The Art and Science of Teaching , classroom
engagement techniques, learning goals and scales, and formative assessment
● Ability to integrate technology into teaching and learning practices
● Exceptional communication, analysis, interpersonal, and organizational skills
● Understanding of, or demonstrated training in, PBIS and MTSS initiatives
● Ability to handle complex and stressful issues or situations with sound judgment,
common sense, and a calm demeanor
● Impeccable character, a good sense of humor, and compassion for middle school
students, families, and staff
● Willingness to undertake extra-curricular assignments; preferably a coaching role
in one of our sports teams
● Willing to work with our district team in assembling and developing curriculum
throughout this year
Performance for this position will be evaluated annually by the Potterville Middle/High
Term of Employment:
Full time with benefits as per Master Agreement of Potterville Education Association
