Position Details: 

RESPONSIBLE TO: Assistant Director of Finance and Business Operations and the Business Manager.



  1. Administrative/Non-Bargaining.
  2. One (1) Full-time position, 260-day position.
  3. Salary:  $62,000 annually.


GENERAL SUMMARY OF POSITION:  Under the supervision of the Assistant Director of Finance and Business Operations and the Business Manager, the Financial Coordinator will be responsible for coordination, accounting, and reporting of grants in the district.  This includes providing consultation and technical assistance to the local school districts and the SISD staff in program planning, development, research, evaluation, risk assessment of grant recipients, and ongoing monitoring of grants throughout the year.


Major Responsibilities:

  1. Consults with the local school districts and SISD staff to coordinate grant proposal design, development, preparation, and submission.
  2. Responsible for grants, including the development of the budget, submission of monthly/quarterly/yearly reports.  Also responsible for working with the departments to ensure the requirements of the grants is followed.
  3. Accounts for the financial transactions of the grant.  Compiles and analyzes financial information to prepare entries to accounts such as general ledger accounts, and documenting business transactions. 
  4. Audit grant activity to ensure compliance with grant requirements.
  5. Maintain a project file which contains all of the financial transactions relating to the grants.
  6. Claim indirect costs when requesting grant funds.
  7. Prepare cash request forms, billing invoices, and expenditure reports as required by the grant.
  8. Assist the Assistant Director of Finance with annual audit preparation.
  9. Provide accounting support as needed for other department roles.
  10. The ability to answer accounting code structure questions from departments.
  11. Assists in the preparation and submission of required grants recaps and reports to District officials, companies, state and national.
  12. Perform business office management services to the local district, including budget preparation and cash flow projections as needed.
  13. Other duties as assigned by the Assistant Director of Finance and the Business Manager.

  1. Bachelor’s Degree required.
  2. CPA Preferred.
  3. Experience with grant auditing & accounting required.
  4. Experience preparing grant requests, working in MEGS and MEIS.
  5. Ability to prioritize work assignments and perform tasks with limited supervision.
  6. Ability to use technology in completing job duties, advanced Excel skills necessary.
  7. Knowledge and experience in financial auditing.
  8. Working knowledge of annual financial audit requirements for State/Federal reporting, reconciling general ledger monthly.
  9. Working knowledge of OMB Circulars.
  10. Previous knowledge of Skyward software desired.
  11. The ability to work in a team setting.
  12. High level of decision-making abilities required.
  13. Ability to deal with constant and diverse changes in daily job responsibilities.
  14. Ability to work within district timelines.
  15. Ability to lift a minimum of 50 pounds.
  16. Willingness to receive additional training to improve job skills.
