TITLE:                       Coordinator of Student Services – Richards Middle School

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Must have a current Michigan teaching certificate.
  • Experience at the secondary school level (preferred) and experience in a variety of leadership roles.
  • Demonstrates the ability to provide quality instructional leadership and management.
  • Demonstrates excellent communication skills.
  • Demonstrates a conceptual understanding of human growth and development, learning theories and teaching methodologies.
  • Demonstrates skill and sensitivity in working with all members of the school community.
  • Demonstrates the ability to plan, organize and execute the full range of intervention tasks associated with the operation of a comprehensive middle school.

REPORTS TO:           Building Principal

SUPERVISES:             All Students

JOB GOAL:        Responsible for all matters related to student intervention as it applies to academic and behavioral programming.  This position also requires active participation with the Positive Behavior Intervention Support (PBIS) and Multi-Tiered System of Supports (MTSS) process as well as gathering and reviewing data to present to the principal to make instructional design decisions to support the learners in the building.

 ASSIGNED RESPONSIBILITIES:

  1. Develops relationships, interventions, and support to the at-risk student population.
  2. Serves as a member for various instructional leadership areas.
  3. Supports the strategic plan of the District.
  4. Develops, implements, administers and evaluates the attendance program for the at-risk population
  5. Works with teachers and counselors in resolving at-risk student attendance, academic and behavioral issues.
  6. Works in an intervention role with staff to handle potential referrals related to at-risk student attendance and classroom discipline.
  7. Works in a supervisory role with staff and is responsible for all disciplinary matters and referrals related to at-risk classroom discipline and attendance.
  8. Counsels with at-risk students and their parents with respect to delinquency, academic and behavior problems.
  9. Develops reports to review data using Data Director, SWIS and PowerSchool to identify Tier 2 and Tier 3 students as it pertains to academics and behavior. 
  10. Develops protocols and behavior plans to assist with at-risk students to ensure appropriate programming support.
  11. Reviews progress monitoring data regularly of students that are receiving T2 and T3 support.
  12. Assists in the annual process of scheduling at-risk students.
  13. Assist Meets monthly with MTSS team to review progress
  14. Supervision of evening events and activities to build culture with students.
  15. Performs all other duties as requested by the principal.

TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT:       2018-2019 School Year

Regular and reliable attendance is an essential job function.

 SALARY:                                                         In accordance with current negotiated contract.          

EVALUATION:                                                  In accordance with the State of Michigan laws and policies.
