Assigned to Oakridge High School


  • Possess a Master’s Degree in Guidance and Counseling upon application.
  • Possess a valid secondary teaching certificate in the State of Michigan with a School Counselor endorsement. 
  • Prefer experience in the following roles in which school counselors serve and which require a school counseling credential:
    • Provide individual and group counseling services to assist pupils.​
    • Collaborate with staff in planning educational interventions, curriculum, behavioral management plans, and teaching strategies.​
    • Consult and collaborate with pupils, families, school personnel, and appropriate professionals and agency personnel regarding behavioral and educational concerns.​
    • Provide guidance to pupils utilizing technology, career development theory, educational information, and occupational information.
    • Assess pupils by using assessment, statistics and research methodology, follow-up evaluations, and measurement methods.
    • Assess school counseling programs using assessment, statistics and research methodology, follow-up evaluations, and measurement methods.
    • Design, implement, and evaluate a guidance and counseling program focusing on the career, academic, personal, social, emotional and developmental needs of all pupils using, but not limited to, the following functions:  advising, placement, planning, assessment, counseling, coordinating, instructing, referring, and programming.
  • Possess Career Preparation experience with a working knowledge of student EDP preparation and development.
  • ·Possess ability to develop successful intervention strategies to assist at-risk youth so that they are successful with district curricular standards.
  • Possess working knowledge of the development of student conflict resolution, student mediation programs, and peer mentorship programs.
  • Possess successful communication skills with students, staff, administrators, parents, and community stakeholders.
  • Participate in building and district committee structure to develop new curricular guidelines for all areas.
  • Follow and implement all Board of Education policies, administrative guidelines and building regulations.
  • Willing to perform other duties as necessary and/or directed by the principal.
