MS TECHNOLOGY TEACHER - WYANDOT MIDDLE SCHOOL

SUMMARY:

Teach the approved curriculum for technology education in a middle school setting that includes both computer-based modules/technology and fabrication. Utilize this platform to introduce students to a variety of technologies and help students become aware of related career technical education (CTE) opportunities available to students in the high schools.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Required - Bachelor’s degree or higher
  • Required - Current valid Michigan teaching certificate with IX, TX or TE endorsement.
  • Preferred – Additional academic or occupational endorsement(s)

SKILLS AND EXPERTISE:

  • Possess a strong working knowledge of subject matter and current research on learning.
  • Highly skillful in developing stimulating lessons, utilizing a variety of learning strategies and assessments that incorporate technical and hands-on experiences.
  • Demonstrate appropriate teaching strategies for all students.
  • Demonstrate an understanding of adolescent developmental patterns.
  • Exhibit self-control, mature judgment, congeniality, and ethical standards in all working relationships.
  • Must engage collaboratively with other Technology Education colleagues to effectively deliver and continuously improve and maintain the most effective program.
  • Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in written communications with all stakeholders. 
  • Comfortable and competent in using computer-based technology education modules (Lab Volt), LEGO robotics, as well as traditional and modern tooling associated with a fabrication lab. (Examples – Scroll saw; CNC router; drill press; 3-D printer; etc.)
  • Comfortable and competent in using basic technology tools effectively such as Word, Excel, Outlook,PowerPoint, Smart Board, and other district technology tools/applications. Commitment to learning and maintaining proficiency, as required skill sets change with technology and/or the needs of the district. 
  • Demonstrated mental/physical ability and stamina for meeting the essential duties of the position.
  • Punctuality and good attendance.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Assess and measure student growth following district and school guidelines.
  • Adhere to district/school procedures and policies, especially those for classroom management and safety.
  • Provide oversight for Technology Education classroom teaching materials, equipment, software and facility.
  • Participate in budgeting and tracking/self-monitoring of expenditures for your program.
  • Commitment to continuous learning, professional growth and improvement. 
  • Foster relationships with our high school CTE instructors and be proactive in outreach efforts to inform middle school students of CTE opportunities in related technical programs available to them in high school.
