Position Details: 

The Instructional Leadership Coach coaches participants in the Leading Educators Fellowship in instructional leadership that drives student achievement. This position reports to the Program Director. 


  • Consistently model and foster the Leading Educators values of Equity, Service, Community, Growth, and Results 
  • Coach a cadre of principals and teacher leaders in best practices for leading teams, establishing strong cultures of learning, and designing and facilitating cycles of professional learning 
  • Use a variety of coaching models including Observation & Feedback and Co-planning 
  • Lead group coaching meetings with school teams to support teams in analyzing progress and planning next steps 
  • Engage school leaders to best leverage influence and support for fellows to be effective in their schools 
  • Communicate goals and outcomes to the Program Director and to school Leaders regularly 
  • Build and consistently strengthen relationships with stakeholders 
  • Participate in internal and external staff development sessions to bolster professional skill sets and enhance overall organizational effectiveness 
  • Lead and support professional development sessions during the summer and during Weekend Workshops throughout the school year 
  • Assist in the development and refinement of Leading Educators’ session design, coaching model, and coaching systems 
  • Maintain a written record of coaching session goals and outcomes as well as corresponding student achievement and teacher practice goals and outcomes 


The ideal candidate has demonstrated significant and measurable student academic achievement results in a high needs school as an instructional leader (Principal, Assistant Principal, Instructional Coach, Department Chair). The candidate should also possess the following: 

  • Significant results in coaching and training teachers and instructional leaders to drive instruction that is content-based, aligned to CCSS standards, and measurably improves student outcomes 
  • Deep mastery of Common Core State Standards for Grades 6-12 Math, with a clear vision of interdisciplinary connections to science or social studies 
  • Deep mastery of standards-based instructional planning and delivery that ensures student mastery of rigorous content and skills 
  • Rigorous vision for school culture, instruction, and content with an ability to model, teach, and reinforce that vision with school leadership teams and teachers 
  • Demonstrated commitment to traditionally underserved schools and communities 
  • Ability to thrive in an environment of ambiguity 
  • Extremely high expectations of oneself, colleagues, and stakeholders; ability to communicate those expectations in a direct and motivating way 
  • Deep commitment to professional growth; enthusiasm for continuous feedback

Compensation is competitive, commensurate with experience. In addition, Leading Educators offers a very generous benefits package including 100% paid medical, dental, and vision coverage for individual employees. Additional premium costs are covered 60% by Leading Educators for partners and dependents on medical, dental, and vision plans. We also offer a 4% matching 401k plan, Flexible Spending Accounts for medical, childcare and commuter expenses, as well as an employer-sponsored Health Reimbursement Arrangement (HRA) and an Employee Assistance Program (EAP). Benefits are valued at or above $8,000 for employees. 

Additionally, Leading Educators offers generous time off with pay to support a sustainable high-performance work culture. During the first three years of employment, full time staff accrue 22 days a year. Five additional days are accrued after the third and sixth year of employment. Leading Educators also offers 16 additional paid days off for various holidays, including three floating holidays staff may use at their discretion.
