Position Details: 

Qualifications:

  1. Valid Michigan Teacher Certification with Special Education Endorsement
  2. Successful teaching experience, student teaching, or professional classroom experience
  3. EI or CI certification preferred

Job Duties:

  1. Knowledge of disabilities and their educational implications
  2. Understanding of implementing a Multi-Tiered System of Support (MTSS)
  3. Understanding of curriculum design and instructional strategies
  4. Knowledge of general and special education state/federal laws, rules, and regulations
  5. Plan, organize, and provide instruction to students individually, in small groups, and in both the resource room environment and the general education classroom
  6. Evaluate student progress and prepare reports that detail progress
  7. Maintain appropriate records
  8. Recommend changes in students’ school and classroom environments, consistent with their needs and capabilities to provide greater access to the general education curriculum
  9. Work collaboratively with paraprofessionals
  10. Adapt general education and special education curriculum, support materials, and instructional strategies being applied in the general education setting
  11. Appropriately utilize behavior management strategies and develop, implement, and incorporate appropriate behavioral management techniques
  12. Identify and access resources relevant to students with disabilities
  13. Attend and prepare for Multi-Disciplinary Evaluation Team (MET) and Individualized Education Planning Team (IEPT) meetings when requested
  14. Function as a part of IEPT’s designating appropriate education programs for students with disabilities
  15. Willing to attend professional learning opportunities to keep current in best practices as it relates to providing a Free Appropriate Public Education (FAPE) to students in need of special education programs and services
  16. Maintain a caseload of special education students not to exceed 23

Salary: Wages and benefits in accordance with the Collective Bargaining Agreement between Chesaning Union School District and Chesaning Education Association MEA/NEA
