Special Education Teacher

This position offers full time employment; it's a forty hour a week positions with benefits. This position offers a challenging and yet rewarding environment working with students' ages 13 to 26 in the Saginaw area.

Qualifications: Must possess valid Michigan Teacher Certificate, with Provisional Certificate or Professional Education Certificate. Candidate must be highly qualified in Special Education. Successful completion of Employment Physical, Criminal/Driving History Background Check and Drug Screen is required under the terms of agency employment.

POSITION DETAILS

Minimum Requirements:

Must possess a valid Michigan Teacher Certificate, with Provisional Certificate or Professional Education Certificate. Candidate must be highly qualified in Special Education. Excellent oral and written communication skills. Demonstrated ability to work effectively with students, parents, and other staff. Willingness to learn and/or utilize technology, including computer programs designed for student use, the Internet, e-mail, spreadsheet, and word processing programs.

Job Responsibilities:

Developing lesson plans in line with the curriculum. Preparing classroom and coursework materials, homework assignments, and handouts. Organizing and delivering classroom lectures to students. Evaluating a students' class work and assignments. Recording and maintain accurate student attendance records and grades. Classroom management, maintaining discipline in the classroom, and creating a vibrant teaching atmosphere. Accurately and appropriately interprets and utilizes student data. Coordinate testing and perform data dissemination. Collaborates with parents/guardians and educators to assist students with educational goals. Consults and collaborates effectively with parents/guardians, teachers, administrators, and other educational/community resources regarding students with identified concerns and needs. Advising students on career issues. Participates in professional development activities to improve knowledge and skills. Adheres to laws, policies, procedures, and ethical standards of the school teaching profession.

Qualifications: Successful completion of Employment Physical and Drug Screen are required.
