Position Details: 

Job Description:Coordinate services for students with disabilities. Provide instructional support for students needing teacher consultant services and resource support. Participate in Prime Time groupings to meet students’ needs. Complete all required special education documentation correctly and in a timely manner. Evaluate student’s progress toward meeting his/her goals. Assess student performance data and develops an appropriate Individualized Education Plan for each student. Schedule and chair initial evaluation report meetings to help determine what type of evaluation might be needed, administer assessments, and facilitate the initial IEP meetings. Coordinates and runs the LINKS (Peer to Peer) program at the Junior High School, pairing a peer mentor with a student with a disability. Start Date: August 2018 Minimum Qualifications:Valid Michigan Teaching Certificate with an endorsement in Special Education. Possess a Master’s Degree in education or a field of study related to special education with Teacher Consultant approval. Minimum of three years of satisfactory teaching experience, not less than two years in a Special Education program. A strong desire to work with special education students. Ability and willingness to work collaboratively with teachers across all grade levels. Familiarity with course content standards and expectations. Ability to plan and implement activities for maximum effectiveness. Basic understanding and knowledge of current technology. Must meet Highly Qualified requirements as defined by the Michigan Department of Education. Preferred Qualifications: Proven classroom management techniques. The ability to relate positively and communicate effectively with students, parents and staff. Special Education Autism (SV) endorsement.
