Position Details: 


  • Minimum High School Diploma or its equivalent, Associate’s Degree in Computer Science or related field preferred
  • Minimum of three (3) years experience in Windows Server 2008 and higher preferred
  • Minimum of three (3) years experience with server virtualization (VMWare) preferred
  • Minimum of three (3) years experience in computer repair and software support
  • Experience with data backup strategies, systems, and integrity testing preferred
  • Experience with VOIP telephone systems preferred
  • Experience in K-12 school environment preferred
  • Experience in Windows server environment, Active Directory management, Group Policy Object management, application installation, upgrades, and maintenance, patch management
  • Familiarity with AS400 systems and operations, PC computer software applications, and hardware and networking technologies preferred
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills required
  • Physical ability to lift and maneuver 40-60 pounds
  • Ability to work independently, in an organized manner with minimum supervision
  • Must have own means of transportation to travel between buildings


REPORTS TO:      Executive Director of Technology


JOB GOAL: Under limited supervision, the Technology Service Coordinator is responsible for operating and monitoring the district help desk system, ITDirect, and various computer, voice, and video systems throughout the district.  The Technology Service Coordinator is responsible for maintaining the Windows server environment, policy maintenance, backup, upgrades, and patch management. The Technology Service Coordinator is also responsible for providing technical training to secretaries, teachers, and administrators and managing the activities of the district Computer Technicians.



Technical Duties:  Operate, maintain, and monitor the online help desk system, ITDirect

  • Assist staff members with software application problems
  • Process and assign requests for technical support
  • Record and monitor equipment repairs assigned to hardware and software vendors
  • Report any violation of the Acceptable Use Policy by users to the Executive Director of Technology
  • Maintain voice, video and data network, including server and user data backups
  • Install necessary hardware upgrades and patches
  • Provide all technical support and assistance when new technology is acquired and deployed to staff members and students
  • Develop and maintain documentation of district hardware and software inventory, configuration, and upgrade and maintenance schedules

Training Duties

  • To learn the mission critical software applications used by the district
  • Prepare, schedule, publicize and perform software application training
  • Create, organize, and maintain updated documents for critical applications and processes used by the district
  • To write, publish and distribute custom documentation as necessary
  • Assist the Executive Director of Technology as necessary

Computer Technician Work Flow Duties

  • Supply direction to the district Computer Technicians
  • Communicate changes in the network status to the district Computer Technicians
  • Provide technical support, instruction, and guidance for the district Computer Technicians
  • Assist the district Computer Technicians as second level technical support


TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT: Full-time, 12 Months. Monday – Friday. Normal schedule will be 8:00am – 4:30pm but may vary with district needs.
