Position Details: 

POSITION:                     Chemistry teacher

DESCRIPTION:             Full time teaching position at Grayling High School.

QUALIFICATIONS:      Applicant must be able to: apply researched strategies for designing and implementing an effective Chemistry curriculum; develop activities, assessments and laboratory investigations that engage students in acting and thinking like scientists; participate in regular trainings; conduct inquiry-based labs; use modeling; use AP Chemistry curricula;  implement strategies to effectively prepare students for AP chemistry; and develop or revise a syllabus to align with course requirements.

Applicant must also possess valid Michigan secondary teaching certificate and highly qualified status to teach high school Chemistry. Michigan Certification is required with Chemistry, DC or an Integrated Science certificate, DX/DI. A Chemistry Major or a master’s degree in Chemistry preferred.  The desired qualified candidate should be knowledgeable in the Next Generation Science Standards, understand College and Career Readiness Standards, and be knowledgeable about current educational research, as well as being able to teach with best practice teaching strategies using technology. He or she must have the desire to be involved in co-curricular activities such as class advising/coaching, committee work, and school improvement initiatives.

Regular and reliable attendance is an essential job responsibility.

SALARY:                       According to the terms of the Master Agreement.
