Position Details: 

Hudsonville High School Principal

Primary Performance Responsibilities:

  • Engage and inspire students/staff to encourage each individual to perform at their highest level.
  • Manage all building staff personnel.
  • Complete annual evaluations of professional and support staff.
  • Resolve staff problems and provides support to teachers.
  • Provide general supervision to students.
  • Supervise extracurricular activities.
  • Evaluate performance of teachers, program, and staff.
  • Provide in-service training to teachers as needed.
  • Work with Assistant Superintendent of Business and FInance on budgeting/purchasing.
  • Maintain productive relations with parents, parent groups, school volunteers, and outside agencies.
  • Implement policy and procedure changes from the Board, or the State and Federal level at the building level.
  • Maintain a current educational/administrative certificate by meeting required course work of 6 credit hours or 180 SCECH's every 5 years.
  • Other duties may be assigned.


  • Minimum of a Masters Degree.
  • Masters Degree in Educational Leadership with an Secondary Administration emphasis preferred.
  • Meets state requirements for Secondary Principal Certification.
  • Three (3) years of successful teaching experience at the secondary school level preferred.
  • Previous principal experience preferred.
  • Demonstrates the leadership qualities and personal characteristics necessary for working effectively with students, teachers, and parents.
  • Knowledge of planning for School Improvement and state mandates.
  • Experience building a master schedule and awareness of alternative types of daily schedules.

Selection Timeline:

  • April 20, 2018, 4:00 p.m. - Deadline for submission of application materials
  • April 23 - May 9, 2018 - Candidate screening, interviews, and formulation of recommendation for the Board of Education
  • May 10, 2018 - Approval of Appointment by the Board of Education
  • August, 2018 - New Principal meets with the staff of Hudsonville High School
