Salary Range:  $124,000 - $144,000

Salary Range:  $124,000 to $144,000

Position Summary:  The Assistant Superintendent for Human Resources and Labor Relations plans, coordinates and supervises the operations of the human resources department and labor relations activities for the Bloomfield Hills Schools. This includes staffing, hiring, counseling, disciplining, policy administration and record keeping for all certified and non-certified staff. Also responsible for: performance reviews, negotiation and implementation of collective bargaining agreements and employee grievances. This position also serves as in-house legal counsel on questions relating to employment and school law.


  • Minimum of a master’s degree or law degree with specialization in employment/labor law. (Current member of the Michigan Bar preferred).
  • A minimum of four years experience in human resources management or related experience.
  • Experience in negotiating collective bargaining agreements preferred.
  • Knowledge of the Public Employment Relations Act (PERA), the American with Disabilities Act (ADA), the Family and Medical Leave Act (FMLA), Workers Disability Compensation Act, unemployment insurance, the Open Meetings Act, the Freedom of Information Act (FOIA), Bullard-Plawecki Employee Right to Know Act, Michigan Teachers’ Tenure Act, and applicable employment and school laws.
