Westwood Heights Schools/MASB
Position Details:

Westwood Heights Schools Preliminary Posting

Westwood Heights Schools is seeking a superintendent to succeed Superintendent Salli Stevens’ service to the district.

Westwood Heights is located in North Genesee County just north of Flint.  The county is easily accessed via I-75, close to parks like Crossroads Village, and several small lakes both to the north and the south.

The district consists of a 9.89 square mile radius. While our district has a city of Flint address, we are considered a Mt. Morris Township school and in fact, much of the community from which our students come is considered the urban fringe of a mid-sized city. The district is comprised of three buildings, one building with Pre-School - 6th grade students in attendance: McMonagle Elementary; one building housing the middle school grades (7-8) as well as high school grades (9-12): Hamady Middle/High School, and a newly added alternative high school building: Academy West where our adult education program is also located. The population of individuals living within the Westwood Heights School District area is 5,791. 63% of the adults living within our school district have received a high school diploma, while only 25% of the adults have at least a Bachelor's degree or higher. The pupil count is 1479.

The area is known to blend the arts, recreation and culture of larger communities with the family environment of a mid-sized town. This creates an advantageous city in which to live, work and raise a family.

Many of the local amenities come from the University of Michigan Flint, Kettering University, Mott Community College, and Baker College with a combined enrollment of over 10,0000 students.  Situated in the cultural area of Flint and supporting surrounding communities, students, professors and educators, these schools bring a dimension to the community which encourages inclusion of newcomers and new ideas. Collectively known throughout the nation as a training ground for both academic and trade pursuits, this drives much of the economic success in the area.

Westwood Heights is one of 21 school districts served by the Genesee Intermediate School District, whose partnerships and collaborative efforts enhance the learning for students!
