Position Details: 

The Automotive Technology Instructor will develop curriculum and provide instruction for the Southwest Macomb Technical Education Consortium (SMTEC) automotive classes held in the automotive lab in the Career Technology Education (CTE) building located at Lincoln High School. The class provides exploratory experiences in automotive maintenance & light repair and helps students become successful employees or business owners. The class emphasizes safety, procedures, equipment and tool use while preparing students to take the ASE Maintenance & Light Repair exam for certification. 


  1. Must be State of Michigan, ASE or NATEF certified and hold one of the following State of Michigan certifications:
    1. State Secondary Provisional Certification with the appropriate endorsement;
    2. Interim Occupational Certification or Occupational Education Certification (IOC/OEC) with the appropriate endorsement;

- OR

  1. Must be State of Michigan, ASE or NATEF certified and qualify for Annual Occupational Authorization through the SJC-CTE Consortium, including having two years (4,000 hours) of current, industry-related experience in the last six years.


Preferred Qualifications:

  1. Experience working with high school age students and diverse student populations;
  2. ASE Master Tech Certification;
  3. Post-secondary degrees or classes in automotive service and/or education;
  4. Able to use or learn Microsoft Office Products and other technologies for the classroom.
